Honda Leads the Electric Vehicle Charge
As electric vehicles have proven themselves to be a permanent fixture of our country moving forward, Honda has taken steps to ensure it remains at the forefront of the electric revolution. After finalizing deals with some of the nation’s top charging networks over the past few weeks, Honda has further solidified its position as a leader in the electric vehicle space.Â
Charging Network Expansion
After reaching agreements with EVgo and Electrify America, two of North America’s largest charging networks, Honda drivers will have expanded access to a multitude of the networks’ ports and features. This is in addition to the high-powered charging network that Honda recently announced they are creating in conjunction with six other prominent automakers. This pursuit of multiple EV ventures ensures Honda drivers they won’t lack charging options in the years and decades to come.Â
The Smartphone Connection
As part of the new arrangement with EVgo and Electrify America, Honda owners will have access to a smartphone app capable of locating available fast charging stations across the continent. The app gives drivers the option to locate nearby charging stations, make charging payments, redeem credits, enroll in subscription plans and more, all conveniently packaged together on your smartphone device.Â
The Shogo Initiative Grows
Honda’s dedication to EV expansion doesn’t stop at consumer vehicles. The new charging network agreements follow the announcement that Honda is expanding its Shogo initiative, another electric-based endeavor. Also called “Project Courage,” the Shogo initiative sees Honda distribute miniature electric vehicles to children’s hospitals nationwide, allowing its young patients to explore the facilities in a fun and safe manner.Â
Beyond Electric
Honda’s recent commitment to technological advances extends beyond the electric landscape. Select 2023 and 2024 Honda models now have access to the Chamberlain Group’s myQ Connected Garage feature, enabling drivers to open, close, and monitor their garage doors by using their in-dash display screen. No new additional vehicle hardware is required alongside this Cloud-based feature, allowing the driver to explore the app with no further financial commitment.Â
